Introduce

Polar sciences monitor and attempt to understand natural phenomena and study resources and engineering applications in the polar regions of the Arctic and Antarctic. Because both polar regions are the coldest, driest and windiest areas on the earth, they have become very interesting subjects of scientific research. Polar regions are the world's only unexploited areas and clean natural laboratories that remain on the earth, thy also have huge resource potential. Polar regions as the heat sink of the earth are known to play a crucial role in the global environment. Polar science is a multi-disciplinary complex science covering most of the natural and engineering fields, this field can be approached by all undergraduate majors. Higher level of research is expected in the area of student's undergraduate major or in new applied fields in master's and doctoral courses. Various courses are offered in the field of earth science including geology, oceanography and meteorology, as well as introductory courses on the polar environment and in-depth courses with lectures and experiments that need to be taken after thesis supervisors are assigned. Polar science majors require pioneering and voluntary attitudes to challenge the harsh polar environment during their field experiments in the Arctic and Antarctic.
